9-DAY NAIROBI, SAMBURU, ABERDARES, LAKE NAKURU & MASAI MARA

Approximately 343 km North East of Nairobi lies the Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves. A drive through the Rift Valley and the highlands takes you to these reserves which are unparalleled in Kenya for the number and diversity of its game. The safari then takes you through Aberdares National Park to Lake Nakuru and finally to the amazing Masai Mara.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN NAIROBI

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. You will check in refresh and relax before you go for your dinner. After dinner you will return to your room for an overnight waiting to start your safari the next day.

DAY 2: NAIROBI- SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

A drive through the Rift Valley and the highlands takes you to this reserves which are unparalleled in Kenya for the number and diversity of its game. After lunch, time to relax before heading out on a game viewing drive.

DAY 3: SAMBURU & BUFFALO SPRINGS NATIONAL RESERVES

After breakfast you will head to the reserve for morning game drives and later for an afternoon drives. Among the wildlife are the various antelopes and all the Big Five (i.e. Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhino and Buffalo). After your extensive game drives you will return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: SAMBURU – ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, depart for Nyeri arriving in time for lunch. For clients staying at Treetops Hotel lunch is served at the Outspan Hotel and for those staying at the Ark, lunch is served at the Aberdares Country Club. After lunch, a transfer is provided to either Treetops or the Ark, which are strategically situated for night game viewing.

DAY 5: ABERDARES – LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast leave Aberdares National Park and proceed through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru arriving in time for lunch. An afternoon game drive takes us round the Lake; home of the famous pink flamingo. Lake Nakuru houses Kenya’s first rhino sanctuary and one of the largest concentrations of black rhinoceros in the world a large population of white rhino. The park features the picturesque Malaika Waterfalls. Also of interest is an area of 188 km around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes. Among predators are lion, leopard and large pythons hiding in the dense woodlands which may occasionally be seen crossing roads or dangling from trees. Others game include Thomson’s and Grant gazelle, the long- eared leaf-nosed bat, colobus monkey, rock hyrax, hippo, and waterbuck; Impala, striped hyena, bat-eared fox, wildcat, reedbuck and golden cat.

DAY 6: NAKURU – MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

You will wake up for your breakfast. After breakfast you will depart Lake Nakuru for Masai Mara National Park arriving in time for lunch. After checking in your lodge you will settle down for your lunch. After lunch you will have a short time to relax before you head for an afternoon game drive in this top class game reserve. You will do your game drive till late in the evening before you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: MASAI MARA RESERVE

Morning and afternoon game drives are provided. Among the wildlife seen are wildebeest, black rhino, cheetah, giraffe, elephant, great herds of antelope and fascinating primates such as the red-tailed monkey. Game drives in open land rovers and bush walks with excellent resident guides and naturalists reveal the wonders of the Mara in an interpretative experience for you.

DAY 8: FULL DAY IN MARA

Full day spent for viewing the great predators and explore the parks amazingly high concentration of wild animals. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive Cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. During the stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp.

DAY 9: MASAI MARA - NAIROBI

After breakfast, we leave Mara for Nairobi via Narok and ascend the escarpment to the Central Highlands. Arriving later in the afternoon. Transfer to the airport or hotel of stay.
